License expiration and renewal dates
- New applications and those renewed with financing may have nonstandard expiration dates. To view your firm's license information, open the application and selectHelpthenAbout.
- Technical support is only available if your license is current and not within the grace period.noteThe grace period is a short time when you still have full access to product functionality after your license expires.
UltraTax CS
- UltraTax CS licenses don't have an expiration date because we release a new application every year.
- When you renew, you get access to the current version and the previous 7 versions.
- We add UltraTax CS to all Virtual Office firms regardless of your renewal status. If you haven't renewed, you will be prompted to download your licenses, but it will fail because there aren't any licenses to download.
- If you also own Fixed Assets CS, FileCabinet CS, or Planner CS, all of your applications will be available for renewal with your UltraTax CS.
- UltraTax Desktop Customers: Have access to download the current year and 7 prior years of UltraTax CS.
- UltraTax VO/SaaS Customers: Have access to the current year and 9 prior years in VO/SaaS, but we only Support the current year and 7 prior years.
- Desktop versions of UltraTax CS 2017 and prior year versions use the MFA app to authenticate, which is being phased out, making it so new customers won’t be able to access those older versions and that is why those prior years are not available to download.
- Desktop versions of UltraTax CS 2018 and forward use CIAM to authenticate.
Accounting CS & Workpapers CS
- The renewal period typically begins in late October.
- Renew by March 1 to stay current.
- Licenses include a 60-day grace period.
Practice CS
- The renewal period usually begins in late June.
- Renew by October 1 to stay current.
- Licenses include a 45-day grace period.
Fixed Assets CS, FileCabinet CS, and ToolBox CS
- Renew your Fixed Assets CS, FileCabinet CS, and ToolBox CS by November 1.
- The renewal period usually begins in mid-August.
- If you also own UltraTax CS, the renewal period for all of these products usually begins mid-to-late April.
- Licenses include a 45-day grace period.
- FileCabinet CS versions that are not using CIAM will be removed from the Product Downloads page, this includes FileCabinet CS versions 2016-2022.
- Once FileCabinet CS 2025 is released on 12/2/2025, FileCabinet CS versions 2023, 2024, and 2025 will be available for download on the Products Download page,
- Support can provide assistance to the installer and licenses for the prior years of FileCabinet CS that are available on the Product Downloads page, but only the most current year of FileCabinet CS is supported if their licenses are current.
