Breakeven tables

The breakeven point is the point where the cost of an unlimited license is the same as the cost of paying per return. The current Per Return Pricing (PRP) fee and the cost of an unlimited license determine the breakeven point.

View breakeven information

We provide a breakeven report to help you decide if you want to purchase an unlimited license or pay per return.
  1. Go to
    My Account
     and sign in with your Thomson Reuters ID.
  2. Go to the
    My Orders & Payments
     section then select
    PRP/ELF Reports
    .
  3. Go to the
    One Click reports
     section and then to the Breakeven Report. Select
    Generate Report
    .
  4. The report gives you a table that displays any tax forms you have requested 5 or more Per Return Pricing codes for and the number of returns required to break even in the next tax year.

Breakeven tables

Use the following tables to determine the number of returns required to breakeven on a purchase or renewal of an unlimited license. If you're not sure which renewal discount column applies to you, contact customer support.
note
  • Office Share and Branch firms have reduced renewal pricing that impacts the breakeven point. The breakeven point is half of what is listed for the full renewal price.
  • If you're currently on a step-up pricing plan, the breakeven point may be different than what's in the following tables.

Unlimited electronic filing

During breakeven analysis, take into account the number of extensions, amended, superseding, and/or FBAR returns you anticipate electronically filing (ELF) because each of those are separate transmissions.
note
A verified Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) is required to transmit returns electronically with UltraTax CS.

PRP pricing applies to any service you use without owning the unlimited license.
note
A separate ELF transmission is charged for any Federal Return or FBAR that is Superseded, Extended, Amended, or Filed.
