Set up graduated table for accruable benefit items
Accruable benefits can accrue time by a fixed number of hours for all employees, or by a variable number of hours, based on employees' length of service. Do the following to set up a graduated table accrual method for accruable benefits.
- SelectSetupthenAccruable Benefits.
- In the Accrual Information section, selectGraduatedfor the Hourly allowance then selectTable.
- In theAccruable Benefit Item Settingswindow, select the length of service on which to base the graduated table by selecting theDays,Weeks,Months, orYearsoption.
- Define the 1st tier of the table. TheFromvalue defaults to zero (0), thus starting at 0 days, weeks, months, or years. Enter theTovalue and enter the allowance, available limit, annual limit, and carryover amount for this 1st tier.noteThe graduated table is based on the Days/Weeks/Months/Years of service the employee has completed. For example, if tier 1 is specified as "from 0 to 3 years", the employee won't move to tier 2 until they've completed the 3rd year and reach their 4th year of service.
- Tab down to the next tier and enter theTovalue for the 2nd tier. TheFromvalue will autofill as the previous tier'sTovalue plus one (+1). Enter the allowance, limits, and carryover amount for this tier.
- Continue entering information for each tier as appropriate.
note
- When the accruable benefit is added to an employee, the application references the employee's hire date to determine which tier of the table should be used for the employee. If there's no hire date set up for the employee, the application defaults the accruable benefit to the 1st tier.
- When you use a graduated table for an accruable benefit item, the allowance, limits, and carryover maximum amounts can't be overridden at the employee level.
- If you're adding a new client that has employees with accrued balances, you can enter their beginning balances in theAccruable Benefitstab of theEmployeesscreen.
