Original electronic file information for filing corrected 1099s
Do the following to correct a previously accepted electronic 1099 file:
- To access the window, selectActions, thenEdit Payroll Tax Forms.
- Select the client from theClientdropdown.
- SelectCorrectedfrom theForm typedropdown, then select1099from theFormdropdown.
- Select the form you need to correct from theOriginally Filed Formfield.
- Select the year of the form to correct, then selectRefresh. Select a copy to display from theFormdropdown.
- In theRecipient Selectiontab, select the recipients in the Available Recipients pane that need corrected forms, then selectSelectto add them to the Selected Recipients pane.
- SelectOriginal E-file Information, which can be accessed from theOriginal – Recipient Datatab or theCorrected – Recipient Datatab. This is the required information needed to file a corrected electronic 1099 file:
- ID- This displays the ID for each 1099 recipient selected for correction.
- Recipient Name- This displays the name of each 1099 recipient selected for correction.
- Receipt ID– This is the confirmation that the form was sent to the IRS.noteIf you're using a version of Accounting CS prior to v.2024.2.0, you'll need to contact our Accounting CS support team to get the Receipt ID. If you're using version v.2024.2.0 or later, refer to the instructions in the topic Receipt ID for electronically corrected 1099 forms to get the Receipt ID.
- Submission ID– This ID can be found in the previously accepted 1099 file being corrected. The value is typically 1.
- Record ID– This ID can be found in the previously accepted 1099 file being corrected. The value is unique to each recipient in the file.
Find the Submission ID and Record ID for 1099s being corrected, which were previously accepted in Accounting CS
- SelectAction, thenProcess Electronic Forms.
- SelectManage Electronic Forms.
- Select the 1099 file then selectPreview Selected.
- The Submission ID value is near the top of the 1099 preview.
- In the Recipient Detail section of the preview, the Record ID value is associated with the recipients that are being corrected.
note
If you're correcting a recipient that has already been corrected, the Receipt ID, Submission ID, and Record ID information will need to be from the latest accepted file for this recipient.
