Check layout in use or associated with checks
You may receive a message when you try to delete a custom check layout or edit a payroll check layout in the Layout editor.
Delete a check layout
CheckLayoutName is in use for reprintable checks and cannot be deleted.
Because payroll checks can be reprinted up to 3 months after the original payroll check date, you'll need wait 3 months or more after the original payroll check date to delete a check layout associated with a printed payroll check.
Change a check layout
CheckLayoutName is associated with checks that are available for reprinting. Changes will prevent reprinting of checks that used this layout. Do you want to save the changes?
- No: If you don't want to prevent checks from being reprinted, selectNoand don’t save your changes.As an alternate method, selectFile,Save asto save the layout under a different name, make your edits to the new check layout, then update the new layout in theLayouttab of theSetup, thenBank Accountsscreen.
- Yes: The changes are saved to the layout. When you try to reprint a payroll check that used the original version of your check layout, you'll receive the following message with a list of checks that can't be reprinted:The following checks could not be reprinted due to the check layout being changed after the original checks printedYou won’t be able to reprint the check.
