Enter the OBBBA overtime amount

In some circumstances, the application automatically calculates the OBBBA overtime premium amount, but you can manually enter, override, or calculated the amount yourself.
The application will automatically calculate the OBBBA overtime premium amounts for applicable pay items on payroll checks for W-2 reporting starting in tax year 2026. Alternatively, you can manually enter, calculate, or override the OBBBA overtime amount from 2 screens:
  • Enter Transactions

  • Enter Batch Payroll Checks

After setting up at least 1 pay item for
Box 12, code TT
, you can enter payroll checks as normal. The OBBBA overtime premium amount will automatically calculate based on the
Box 12 code TT
selection on the pay item.

Do the following to view or manually enter an OBBBA overtime amount for a payroll check:

  2. Go to the
    OBBBA OT
    field.
    note
    The
    OBBBA OT
    field is by the
    Sales
    field for payroll checks.
  3. Select the ellipsis if you need to view or manually enter the OBBBA overtime premium amount by work location and department.
The calculation is now driven by the
Box 12 code TT
based on selection made in the
Payroll Items
screen for each pay item used on the check. To recalculate the OBBBA OT amounts on 2026 checks entered prior to v.2025.4.4, do the following based on whether payroll liabilities have been generated:
  1. If liabilities haven't been generated (unprinted or handwritten checks):
    • Select the check in the
      Enter Transactions
      screen.
    • Select
      Edit
      Refresh Payroll Check
      .
  2. If liabilities have been generated (printed or handwritten checks):
    • Select the check in the
      Enter Transactions
      screen.
      note
      The
      Refresh Payroll Check
      option isn't available once liabilities have been generated.
    • Select the ellipses next to the
      OBBBA OT
      field.
    • In the OBBBA OT Distributions grid, right-click the OBBBA OT amount and select either:
      • Clear Override
        : Clears only the selected field.
      • Clear Check Overrides
        : Clears all overrides in the grid.
    • Select
      Done
      , then
      Enter
      to resave the check.
    note
    • If the previous amount was
      $0.00
      , the recalculated amount displays in the
      OBBBA OT
      field.
    • If the previous amount was manually entered, it's treated as a check override and the system-calculated amount won't display until the override is cleared.

  2. On the Rapid tab:
    1. Go to the OBBBA OT column to view or enter an amount.
      note
      The column is by the
      DNP
      checkbox.
  3. On the Detail tab:
    1. Go to the
      OBBBA OT
      field.
      note
      The
      OBBBA OT
      field is by the
      Sales
      field for payroll checks.
    2. Select the ellipsis if you need to view or manually enter the overtime premium amount by work location and department.
