Network and standalone workstations installation
Before beginning the install, your firm licensee or delegate needs to complete the administrative setup steps in Getting started with your new CS Professional Suite application.

Accounting CS
differs from that for other CS Professional Suite applications you may have used. We recommend that the installation be completed by your firm’s network administrator or consultant. If your firm chooses to install Accounting CS in a terminal server environment, a qualified and certified terminal server professional
needs to complete the installation.For general information to provide to your firm’s terminal server technician, refer to Terminal server installation guidelines for CS Professional Suite applications and Terminal server guidelines for CS Professional Suite applications.

If your firm uses Accounting CS in the Virtual Office CS® environment or in the Software as a Service (SaaS) environment, the installation and CS Connect sections of this guide aren't applicable because we complete the initial installation and updates for you.
Download the Accounting CS installer to your server, and open it to start the installation.
- Go to the folder you saved the installer to.
- Runaccountingcsdownload.exe.
- Pay attention to theDestination Folder. If you need to restart the installation or restart the server.
- SelectExtract.
- SelectYesif you're warned about replacing existing files.
The
Accounting CS
setup opens after you run the downloader. If you need to open the installation manually or restart the installation, go to the folder from the Destination Folder
step and select Setup.exe
. - SelectInstall Accounting CS.
- Answer the question during setup, then review the license agreement.
- If you agree to the license agreement, mark the checkbox to accept the terms. SelectNextto continue.
- On theWelcome to Accounting CS Setupscreen, selectYesto verify that you're installing the application on the computer that you want to designate as the database server. SelectNextto continue.noteIf you selectNo, you'll be prompted to start the installation again on the computer that will function as your database server.
- You may be asked to restart your computer. You can ignore the prompt, but you should restart your computer if it comes back.
- SelectNextto select the location of yourAccounting CSshared files.note
- If you don't plan to runAccounting CSon a network, this folder is usuallyC:\WINCSI.
- If you plan to runAccounting CSon a network, select a shared network folder to which users have full rights such asX:\WINCSIor\\<name of network share>\WINCSI.
- If your computer or server doesn't already have an instance of SQL server, you'll need to install a new instance of Microsoft SQL Server Express and name your instance.
- You can use an existing instance of SQL Express or SQL Server. Work with your IT professional to set up the details.
noteIf a non-Express supported edition (Standard, Enterprise, etc.) of SQL Server is already installed on your computer, we recommend that you select the existing instance to conserve both disk space and processing resources. For more information, search forSQL Server best practicesin Help and Support. If you choose to use a different instance or to install a new instance, be sure to back up your database before you continue. After you complete the installation, startAccounting CSand restore the database. For more details, search forBack up the firm databaseandRestore the firm database. - SelectInstall Accounting CS. Determine whether Accounting CS should be installed on the computer that also functions as your database server.We recommend installing Accounting CS on the server to help with troubleshooting.
- SelectNextto install components on your computer.
- Mark theRun Accounting CScheckbox to open the application and selectFinish.
Install the application on other network computers after you're finished with the server.
You'll need to run the Desktop setup from each computer that will run Accounting CS after you finish with the server installation.
