Error: there are no 1099 forms to print
Scenario
You may get the following error message when you try to print Form 1099.
Error message
There are no 1099 forms to print.
Cause
The likely causes are:
- There are no transactions for the vendor
- Printing thresholds prevent printing.
Solution 1: no transactions for the vendor
To populate Form 1099, you need to do one of the following:
- SelectActions, thenEnter Transactionsand enter transactions for the vendor with a 1099 distribution; or
- SelectActions, theEdit Payroll Tax Formsand override the1099 form manually.
note
The amounts you enter on the
Distributions
tab after you select Setup
then Vendors
will not flow to Form 1099.Solution 2: printing thresholds
The threshold is an amount below which you do not want to print 1099s for a client. A threshold of
0.00
means you've set no threshold, and 1099s will print with any non-zero amount on them. There is a hierarchy of 3 thresholds: - For the global threshold, selectActions,Process Payroll Tax Forms, thenPrint Options.noteAlternatively, from the Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen, selectFile, thenProcess client forms.
- For the client-level threshold, selectSetup,Clients,1099 Forms. In theThreshold Amountcolumn, add a printing threshold for each 1099 type.noteThis client-level threshold trumps the global threshold.
- For the transaction-level threshold, selectActions,Enter Transactions, a transaction with 1099 distributions, then the ellipsis button.noteThe transaction-level threshold trumps the global and client-level thresholds.
tip
You can also use either of the following methods to override printing thresholds:
- SelectSetup,Vendors, the1099 Propertiestab, then mark theAlways Print Formcheckbox.
- SelectActions,Payroll Tax Forms,Print Options, then theIgnore per item threshold overridescheckbox.
