e-File error: Unable to add the file, recipient business name is missing
Unable to add the file for [Client ID]. The following are either missing or incorrect: Recipient business name.
This happens in some instances when filing Forms 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC Copy A and 1096 with the Electronic filing method.
Solution
We resolved this error on version 2023.4.1 (released on January 8, 2024). If you get this error, make sure you're on the latest version of Accounting CS. If you're on Virtual Office or SaaS, you're always on the latest version.
