E-filed return status stuck at Sent to data center

Check whether the
Client ID
or
EIN
was changed, then revert it or remove the return from
Manage Electronic Forms
and resubmit.

Error message

Sent to data center

Scenario

An electronically filed 940, 941, 943, 944, or 945 may show a status of "Sent to data center" and not change in any of these scenarios:
  • There was a connection interruption.
  • The
    Client ID
    or
    EIN
was changed after submitting the form.
  • The return was immediately rejected for insufficient funds or missing information.

Solution

To get the status unstuck, do 1 of the following:
  • Change the
    Client ID
    or
    EIN
back to the original ID. Acknowledgements are associated with Client IDs.
  • Remove the return from the
    Manage Electronic Forms
window, then reprocess and retransmit the forms.
Internal use only
note
  • If CS Connect shows the return as
    Accepted
, but the customer's application shows
    Sent to data center
, have the customer refresh the return status:
    • Go to
      Actions
      Process Electronic Forms
      Manage Electronic Forms
      .
    • Select the ellipsis next to the return, then refresh.
  • Electronic form statuses can't be updated for returns that are more than 1 year past the return's return date. The 1-year timeframe is based on the return date, not the transmission date.
  • If the return exceeds this timeframe, enter an
    ADO
so that a script can be run to update the status. Consult with a consultant before proceeding.
