Remove the control number from a W-2 form

Per the IRS general instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3 returns, the control number is an optional box that you can use for numbering the whole transmittal. Accounting CS populates this field automatically with a unique number for filing purposes.
Follow these steps if you want to remove the control number from a W-2 form.
  1. Select
    File
    , then
    Layout Designer
    .
  2. Select
    W-2 Forms
    , then the year in the Layouts section.
  3. Open the form you want to remove the control number from.
  4. Select the
    TaxForm.W2
     variable in
    d Control number
    , then use
    Delete
    .
  5. Select
    File
    , then
    Save
    .
    The control number will no longer display when you preview or process the form.
