We released version 2025.4.4 on February 19, 2026 with the following changes.
One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) changes
- We added a new OBBBA Overtime Calculation section to theMaintab of thePayroll Itemsscreen. This section includes theBox 12 code TT based onfield that lets you control which hours are included when calculating OBBBA OT amounts during check entry. You can select from the following hour types:
- None
- Regular hours – OT rate preset
- Regular hours – DT rate preset
- OT hours
- DT hours
- OT and DT hoursnoteFor new and existing pay items withW-2 Box 12 code TTselected, the default setting for theBox 12 code TT based onfield isOT hours.
- We updated theOBBBA OTfield to auto-calculate in the following payroll check entry screens: (Ideas Community #1376)
- Enter Transactions
- Enter Batch Payroll Checks
- Enter Batch Handwritten Payroll Checks
The calculation is now driven by theBox 12 code TT based onselection made in thePayroll Itemsscreen for each pay item used on the check. To recalculate the OBBBA OT amounts on 2026 checks entered prior to v.2025.4.4, do the following based on whether payroll liabilities have been generated:- If liabilities haven't been generated (unprinted or handwritten checks):
- Select the check in theEnter Transactionsscreen.
- Select .
- If liabilities have been generated (printed or handwritten checks):
- Select the check in theEnter Transactionsscreen.noteTheRefresh Payroll Checkoption isn't available once liabilities have been generated.
- Select the ellipses next to theOBBBA OTfield.
- In the OBBBA OT Distributions grid, right-click the OBBBA OT amount and select either:
- Clear Override: Clears only the selected field.
- Clear Check Overrides: Clears all overrides in the grid.
- SelectDone, thenEnterto resave the check.
note- If the previous amount was$0.00, the recalculated amount displays in theOBBBA OTfield.
- If the previous amount was manually entered, it's treated as a check override and the system-calculated amount won't display until the override is cleared.
For more information, refer to Enter the OBBBA overtime amount. - We updated theOBBBA OTfield in theEnter Transactionsscreen to always be editable, including after checks are printed or liabilities generated. This change allows both manually calculated and system-calculated OBBBA OT amounts to be updated without reprocessing the check.
- We removed the requirements for specific calculation type and overtime multiplier values for pay items set toW-2 Box 12 code TTin thePayroll Itemsscreen. As a result, pay items with code TT can now be saved with any calculation type. However, during check entry, only the following calculation types allow OBBBA OT to auto-calculate:
- Hourly rate
- Hourly rate - Total hours
For more information about the latest OBBBA changes being made to Accounting CS, refer to One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) of 2025.
SECURE Act 2.0 changes
Provision 603 of the SECURE Act 2.0 requires that high-earning employees–those with more than $150,000 in prior-year FICA wages, adjusted for inflation–who are age 50 or older make all catch-up contributions to qualified retirement plans on a Roth (after-tax) basis beginning January 1, 2026. This requirement applies to 401(k), 403(b), and governmental 457(b) plans.
To support this mandate, we added the
Roth catch-up required (SECURE Act 2.0)
checkbox and a corresponding Linked to
field in the Payroll Item Settings
window for applicable deduction items in the Employees
screen. These fields allow you to identify high-wage earners subject to the Roth catch-up rules and specify the Roth deduction item to use for calculating Rothified catch-up contributions during check entry. (Ideas Community #1417) note
- TheRoth catch-up required (SECURE Act 2.0)checkbox is available only for deduction items of special type401(k)or403(b).
- Selecting the checkbox designates the employee as a high-wage earner who must make Roth catch-up contributions.
- TheLinked tofield identifies the Roth item used when calculating the Roth catch-up amount.
