Set up staff user preferences
Each staff member can personalize their workspace using user preferences. This helps you work more efficiently and comfortably.
- SelectSetup, thenUser Preferences.
- Mark or clear checkboxes in theUser Preferenceswindow to turn features on or off.For example, you can use the Enter key to move between fields instead of the Tab key, turn on implied decimals, choose defaults for reports, and select which types of files should be sent to which printers. The payroll tax forms have additional printer options for each copy type.note
- Mark theUse Enter key to move between fieldscheckbox to have the enter key always move you to the next field during data entry. When this option is selected, you can press Alt + N to save changes in a screen. In addition, when this checkbox is marked and you enter a journal entry or bank account transactions (other than a payroll check) in theEnter Transactionsscreen, you can immediately save a transaction by pressing the Enter key when your cursor is in theAccountfield and the field is blank.
- TheUse Enter key as a shortcut to save in transaction entrycheckbox is only available when theUse Enter key to move between fieldscheckbox is also selected and is specific to theEnter Transactionsscreen. When this checkbox is marked and you're entering a bank account transaction (other than a payroll check) where the Distributions tab is automatically populated, pressing the Enter key when your cursor is in the Amount field saves the transaction right away.
- Go to theReportstab to modify settings for all reports that are printed from the application. SelectCustomizenext to each item to change it.
- Detailed options: Print the detailed options in the header on all predefined reports. Detailed options can include a specified region, section, filters, and sorting options.
- Client ID: Print the client ID in the header of all predefined reports.
- Staff ID: Print the staff ID in the footer of all predefined reports.
- System date and time: Print the system date and time in the footer of all predefined reports.
- Page number: Print the page number so that it's right justified in the footer of all predefined reports.
- In theSystemtab underUser Preferences, select a favorite screen from the dropdown. The screen you select will display when you open the application or selectFavorite Screenin the toolbar. If you don't choose anything, the Home Dashboard will display by default.
- In theSystemtab underUser Preferences, selectResetto display hidden alert messages if you markedDon't show this message again.
