- Go toDescriptionand enter a unique segment description up to 50 characters.
- Enter the mask for the segment using only the following characters:
- A: Alpha characters only
- #: Numeric characters only
- X: Any character, separator, or space
All characters in the segment need to be the same. For example,XXXor####. - Go to theCodessection and enter all potential account codes and their descriptions for the segment.noteYou'll be able to choose the codes you enter here when you selectSelect Codeon the Chart of Accounts screen.

- If you want to hide core/parent GL accounts with associated segmented accounts from the dropdown in all GL account fields, go to theClientsscreen then theAccounting Informationtab and mark theDo not post to core general ledger accountscheckbox. If you mark this checkbox, theEnter Trial Balancescreen shows the core/parent accounts, but you can't post to those accounts. This will prevent you from accidentally posting transactions to core accounts.noteThis checkbox is only available for clients with a segmented chart of accounts mask that uses 2 or more segments.
