Set up account groupings
You can set up an unlimited number of account groupings for a specific client or you can set up account groupings for your firm and use them for new clients.
Do the following to set up account groupings:

Changes to Firm Account Groupings don't add or remove settings in existing clients. You'll need to make such changes at the client level or transfer them from 1 client to another using the Transfer client information tool.
- For account groupings for a specific client, selectSetupthenAccount Groupings.
- For account groupings to use across multiple clients, selectSetup,Firm Information, thenFirm Account Groupings.
- SelectAdd.
- Enter a name for the grouping (up to 50 characters) in theAccount Grouping Description.
- Go toCodeand enter a code up to 15 characters and aDescriptionof it up to 50 characters.
- Go toSubcodeand enter a subcode up to 15 characters and aDescriptionof it up to 50 characters.
- In the Category column, select a category for each account grouping code from the dropdown.noteThe category assignments can be used to generate subtotals in the Account Groupings report.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6 to add any number of codes and subcodes for the account grouping.
- SelectEnterto save the account grouping.
Special characters
You can't use certain special characters in any account grouping code or subcode. The following are special characters you can't use:

Work with the codes
You can use the grid control toolbar to add, delete, or change the order of the codes and subcodes:

Special information
The account groupings are available for selection in the
Chart of Accounts
screen so that you can assign grouping codes and subcodes to accounts.Use the Category column to select and assign categories for each account grouping code. The category assignments can be used to generate subtotals in the Account Groupings report.

Because categories are based on the application's default Account Classifications, the Category column isn't available for this account grouping.
A standard grouping called
Account Classifications
is provided with the application. The Account Classifications grouping includes standard codes, and each standard code includes standard subcodes. You can add an unlimited number of subcodes to each standard code. You can't modify the Account Classifications description or the standard codes included in this grouping. However, you can add subcodes to the standard codes and edit or delete any subcodes that you added. Another standard grouping called
Leadsheet Schedule
is also provided with the application. You can edit and delete this grouping and its codes and subcodes.
