Record liability payments made outside of Accounting CS
You can easily record liability payments in Accounting CS that you or your client have made outside of the application. Recording these payments in Accounting CS lets you track open and paid liabilities and enables payments to process automatically to the Deposit line of reconciliation forms.
Do the following to record a liability payment in Accounting CS:
- SelectSetup,Vendors, the payroll agent(s) to which payments are made outside of Accounting CS, then selectEdit.
- On theMaintab in the Payment Preferences section, change the method toPayment.
- SelectEnterto save your changes.
- Generate open liabilities by printing payroll checks, generating liabilities on handwritten checks, or adding a manual liability.
- SelectFile,Print Checks, then thePayroll Liabilitiestab and select the liabilities that you want to record as paid.noteIf you're impounding liabilities, you'll need to use theManage Impound Paymentsscreen to record the liabilities as paid.
- Select thePrint Selectedto open thePrintwindow. The liability is now recorded as paid, and a record is created in theEnter Transactionsscreen as a Payment type transaction.
