Workpapers CS document extraction

The following information describes the data extraction process for Workpapers CS when you have an agreement with Thomson Reuters Professional Services. If you have any questions about this process, contact your Sales Representative.

Special information

  • We’ll provide the data in its native format from Workpapers CS (that is, Word, Excel, PDF).
  • You may need to reformat formulas in the documents after they are extracted so that they work in your new software.
  • Documents with a status of Checked out will be extracted as the last known version prior to being checked out.

Document extraction process

  1. Check in or return to binder any documents that are checked out or disconnected from your engagement binders.
  2. Create a backup of your Workpapers CS database. If your database is hosted on Virtual Office or Software as a Service (SaaS), skip to step 3.
  3. Send your database to us.
    1. For databases less than 100 GB, contact your Project Manager and ask to have a secure folder set up to upload your data to.
    2. For databases larger than 100 GB, you'll need to mail an encrypted hard drive to us. We recommend using BitLocker to encrypt your hard drive. Mail your hard drive to:
      Professional Services
      6300 Interfirst Drive
      Ann Arbor, MI 48108
  4. After we receive your database, we’ll extract data from Workpapers CS. Note that the Document Date will be the date exported from Workpapers CS.
  5. After the extraction is complete, the files will be in the format ClientID\Engagement\FileName.extension.
  6. We send the files to you securely or we’ll ship an encrypted USB drive to the specified address on the file with your account, depending on your database size.
