Password protect PDFs
You can choose to assign a password for each PDF that you create to prevent unauthorized viewing and/or modification of these files.
- From thePrintwindow, selectAdobe Acrobat (*.pdf)as the output file type, then select thePassword Protectbutton to open thePassword Protectwindow.
- Select one of the following options:
- Mark theProtect against viewing of PDF file(s)checkbox to set a password that provides the recipient with read-only access to the PDF files created by this process, then enter and confirm the password.
- Mark theProtect against modification of PDF file(s)checkbox to restrict write access of PDF files created by this process, then choose from the following options:
- Do not allow modification by any recipient: Select this option to restrict write access by all recipients of the selected PDF files.
- Allow modification only when password is known: Select this option to set a password for write access to the PDF files, then enter and confirm the password.
