Troubleshoot the Workpapers CS print driver

You can use the following information to troubleshoot any issues you come across when you're using the Workpapers CS print driver.

This applies to either the Workpapers CS standalone application or Accounting CS.

Delete pending documents

Delete any pending documents waiting to be printed:
  1. Select
    Start
    ,
    Control Pane
    , then
    Devices and Printers
    .
  2. Double-click the Workpapers CS printer to open it.
  3. Delete any items that are listed.
  4. If you can't delete the items, do the following:
    1. Select
      Start
      ,
      Run
      , enter
      cmd
      , then select
      OK
      .
    2. When the Command Prompt opens, enter
      Net Stop Spooler
      then press
      Enter
      on your keyboard.
    3. Wait for the spooler to stop, then enter
      Net Start Spooler
      and press
      Enter
      again.
  5. Go back to
    Devices and Printers
    and verify that the items are removed from the Workpapers CS printer.
  6. Reinstall the Workpapers print driver.

Reinstall the Workpapers print driver

  1. Go to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Creative Solutions\Accounting CS\Print Driver
    and run the
    ACSPrintDriverUninstall.exe
    file.
  2. When the uninstall finishes, select
    Start
    ,
    Control Panel
    , then
    Devices and Printers
    to verify that the Workpapers print driver is uninstalled. Workpapers CS should no longer be listed.
  3. Go to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Creative Solutions\Accounting CS\Print Driver
    and run the
    ACSPrintDriverInstall.exe
    file.

Verify the Workpapers service is started

Workpapers CS also includes a print service. Do the following to verify it's running:
  1. Select
    Start
    ,
    Control Panel
    ,
    Administrative Tools
    , then
    Services
    .
  2. Select the
    Name
    column to sort the list, and then go to "Workpapers CS Print Service."
  3. Verify that the Status is
    Started
    (or
    Running
    if you're in Windows 10) and that the Startup Type is
    Automatic
    .
    note
    You can right click either of those options to change them.

Set print driver isolation

  1. Select
    Start
    then
    Control Panel
    .
  2. Select
    Administrative Tools
    . (Note: The options that are available depend on whether the Control Panel is in Category, Small icons, or Large icons view mode.)
    1. When in the Category view mode, select
      System and Security
      .
    2. In the Small or Large icons view mode, select
      Administrative Tools
      .
  3. Select
    Print Management
    from the list. If this option isn't available, continue to the next step.
  4. Select the
    All Drivers
    folder.
  5. Verify that the Driver Isolation column in the middle pane indicates
    None
    for the Workpapers CS driver.
  6. If the driver indicates something other than
    None
    , right-click the driver and select
    Set Isolation level
    then
    None
    .
  7. If the driver indicates
    None
    , continue to the next troubleshooting step.

Uninstall the Workpapers print driver

  1. Uninstall the Workpapers CS Print Driver again, but don't re-install it yet.
  2. Delete or rename the following files:
    1. wpdrv.bud
      ,
      wpdrv.dll
      , and
      wpdrv.gpd
      from
      C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\W32X86\3
      or
      C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3
    2. wpntprt.dll
      and
      wpntprt.pdb
      from
      C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\W32X86
      or
      C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\x64
    3. wpsvc.exe
      and
      wppurge.exe
      from
      C:\Windows
  3. Install the Workpapers CS print driver.

Rerun the desktop set up

  1. Completely uninstall the Workpapers CS print driver and delete or rename the files again.
  2. Uninstall Workpapers CS and reinstall the application on the workstation.
  3. Install the Workpapers CS print driver.

Check permission

Make sure the appropriate permissions are set for both the server and workstation.

The applicable permissions information is listed under FileCabinet CS. These are the exact permissions needed for the Workpapers print driver. Replace "FileCabinet CS" with "Workpapers CS" as needed.

Verify the workpapers service is started

RARE
: The service is pointing to the incorrect executable.
  1. Right-click on the
    Workpapers CS Print Service
    then select
    Properties
    .
  2. Verify that the path to executable field is
    C:\windows\wpsvc.exe
    .
  3. If the path is wrong, modify the registry key.
  4. Select
    Start
    then
    Run
    , enter
    regedit
    , then select
    OK
    .
  5. It's very important to make a registry backup before you do the next 2 steps.
  6. Go to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\WPCSvc\Parameters
    .
  7. Change the Data Value for the ServiceDll item.

VO/SaaS Users

Every time a VO or SaaS user signs in, they are randomly assigned a server. Use these steps to verify if the problem is server-specific.
  1. In the notification area, right-click the
    Citrix Workspace
    icon then select
    About
    .
  2. Under Advanced, select
    Connection Center
    .
  3. Write down the server name the user is connected to (formatted similar to EG-NASCSI-A250).
  4. Sign out then sign back in.
  5. If the problem doesn't persist, contact the Systems or Web Services CF. The problem is server specific at this point.
