Adaptive streaming
Case Center supports adaptive streaming for video and audio files. This improves playback for users with slower or fluctuating connections by automatically switching to a lower bitrate stream to reduce buffering. Adaptive streaming is enabled via an environment/instance configuration and is currently is turned on only on some selected instances.
It applies to newly uploaded multimedia files with a bitrate greater than 2 Mbps. When an eligible high-bitrate file is uploaded, Case Center creates an additional, lower-resolution/lower-bitrate encoded version of the media.
During playback, the player automatically selects the most appropriate bitrate based on the user's available bandwidth. If the user's bandwidth drops below 2 Mbps, Case Center will automatically switch to the lower-bitrate encoded version rather than streaming the original file. The original uploaded file is not modified and remains available as uploaded.
