Using search in Checkpoint

Search screen

The
Search screen
 has a range of search tools you can use to make your searches more precise and effective.
Select
Search
 from the navigation toolbar to get to the search screen.
  • When you use the
    Practice Area
     drop-down list to choose a practice area, the screen will show sources and search tools specific to that area. Practice areas include: Federal, State & Local, Estate Planning, Pension & Benefits, International Tax, International Trade, Payroll, and Accounting, Audit & Corporate Finance.
  • To make a search, enter your keywords, choose the sources to search, and then select
    Search
    .
    • Choose
      Terms & Connectors
       if you want to search with exact keyword terms.
    • Choose
      Intuitive Search
       if you want to search with keyword terms to identify sentence, connectors, or citations that are related.
    • Choose
      Thesaurus/Query Tool
       to use
      Restrictions
       to require or exclude terms,
      Tools
       to add terms and connectors to make a more precise search,
      Thesaurus
       to search for alternative terms, and
      Spelling
       to search for alternative spellings.
  • Use the tools in the navigation bar, such as
    Find by Citation
    , to search using methods other than keywords.
