Review documents with tabular analysis in CoCounsel Legal

Tabular analysis lets you review thousands of documents at once by running custom questions across an entire document set. Use it to surface key information for litigation discovery or transactional review.
In the new version of CoCounsel, Tabular Analysis is available only inside of
Workspaces
. Go to a workspace to create a new Tabular Analysis table, add documents to it, define columns of questions, and then run a review that populates the table with answers.
  1. Create or open a workspace, select the
    New
    dropdown, and choose
    New Tabular Analysis
    to open a blank table.
    • Or, from any folder or file, select the options menu and select
      Build table from files
      to create a table pre-loaded with that folder's files.
  2. Rename the table in the table header, if needed.
  3. Make sure the files you want to review live in the workspace. If they don't, add them there first.
  4. Add documents to the table using 1 of the following methods:
    • Drag files from the files panel, including whole folders.
    • Select
      + Add
      Add documents
      in the table header to choose the files, then select
      Attach
      .
    note
    Tables can contain up to 10,000 files.
  5. Add columns using 1 of the following methods:
    • Select the
      +
      button in the header to add a column 1 at a time and set the column header yourself.
    • Select
      + Add
      Add columns
      to open the
      Column Generator
      , then choose 1 of the following options:
      • Enter a prompt in the chat field or paste questions from the clipboard, then select
        Generate columns
        .
      • Select
        Upload questions
        to upload a document of questions.
      • Select
        + Add question
        to enter questions 1 by 1.
  6. Select
    Review
    to populate the answers in the table.
  7. Review your results using the available table controls:
    • Select any answer to open the file viewer.
    • Select the references for an answer to review the source in the document.
    • Filter by column and by row based on the specific criteria of the columns.
    • Select
      Download
      to export an Excel file of the table.
