We're happy to bring you the latest updates from CoCounsel. Each month, our Release Notes highlight new product launches and improvements we've made to enhance your experience.
Product Updates
New – CoCounsel Library
CoCounsel Library takes the guesswork out of common legal work. The Library houses prompts, skills and our new guided workflows enabling users to discover all of the abilities CoCounsel offers.
Customers can use the Library to explore new and existing capabilities to quickly and easily identify tasks that CoCounsel can assist with. Customers can use these ready-made prompts for high -quality results or customize them to suit their specific needs.
CoCounsel Library is accessed via the Library button in the CoCounsel chat box.

New – Workflows
This month, we’re introducing our first set of expert - guided workflows in CoCounsel, designed to help legal professionals work more efficiently by streamlining complex, multi-step projects. Developed by Practical Law editors and legal experts, the workflow s enable users to complete end -to- end tasks, not just individual tasks — achieving results faster with less effort.
Guided Workflows can be found in the CoCounsel Library. More information on individual workflows is found in the following sections.
Generate SEC Form 8 -K
The SEC Form 8 - K Guided Workflow is a CoCounsel skill that generates customized language to be used in a Form 8 - K that will be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC Form 8 - K Guided Workflow can be accessed directly from the normal CoCounsel chat box, or from the CoCounsel Library.
CoCounsel will first ask the user to select the specific 8 - K Items they would like to report in the Form ( as there may be multiple Items for a single event). The user will then be prompted to upload any supporting documents, such as agreements, press releases, meeting minutes, or previous filings . CoCounsel will pull all the required details from the uploaded documents, then output the required disclosure language for the Form 8 - K. During this process, CoCounsel will review trusted precedent language and gu idance , to ensure that the formatting and content are accurate.
CoCounsel vastly speeds up the 8- K drafting process by eliminating the need for precedent research and extraction of the details needed for the Form.
Customize a Practical Law Agreement
The Customize a Practical Law Standard agreement guided allows you to quickly and accurately customize an entire Practical Law Standard Agreement —rather than editing clause by clause. Simply select a n agreement type, upload a term sheet, and provide your instructions. The guided workflow instantly generates a high - quality, tailored draft with in-line legal explanations for every change, grounded in Practical Law ’s trusted content.
Draft a Demand Letter
This workflow generates a demand letter for cases such as personal injury, breach of contract, or employment disputes, using substantive documents uploaded by the user. Draft a Demand Letter extracts key facts from uploaded documents, builds a timeline of prior communication (if available ), analyzes the dispute , and generates a complete demand letter. If a reference template is provided, the output is formatted to match the template.
Create Corporate Bylaws
Corporate Bylaws creates a simple and fast workflow designed for users who want to create bylaws through CoCounsel. Select your company type, your jurisdiction, and a few details about your company and CoCounsel locates the best available Practical Law document available and adjusts it to your specific company information.
Create a Signature Authorization Policy
The Signature Authorization Policy is a workflow that enable s users to easily draft a signature authorization policy using Practical Law resources and details provided by the user. This Workflow is a more efficient way of drafting relatively straightforward corporate documents and does not require the user to download the template, find the variables that need to be added, and manually enter variables.
New Skill – Contract Policy Compliance
Contract Policy Compliance is a powerful skill designed specifically for legal professionals who need to ensure contracts meet essential policy requirements. Previously, users had to toggle to CoCounsel 1.0 to use Contract Policy Compliance . Contract Policy Compliance allows users to upload agreements into CoCounsel, dictate what policies the contract must include, and then CoCounsel will redline the agreement to bring it into compliance with the user’s stated policy.
New Skill – Find a Practical Law Document
You can now find trusted Practical Law resources, including templates, overviews, and checklists, to accelerate your legal work right within CoCounsel. Start with a simple, natural language, prompt such as “find me a settlement agreement under California law” and CoCounsel will return a list of relevant Practical Law documents and describe the 1) document type, 2) jurisdiction, 3) practice area, and 4) an abstract of the document. This skill reduces time spent searching and filtering, helping users get to the right resource quickly and also provides rich metadata and summaries to help users quickly assess relevance and avoid using outdated or off-topic materials.
Skill Enhancements
Review Documents
The Review Documents skill has received significant performance upgrades that will dramatically improve the user experience, now completing processing over five times faster when users submit multiple questions or provide numerous documents for analysis. This speed improvement is made possible by upgrading the skill to a new large language model, which also enhances overall performance and reliability while providing an expanded context window for larger documents and more customizable, detailed outputs.
The enhanced outputs may also include new summary and conclusion sections. While the improvements are substantial, users should be aware that more specific instructions may be needed to achieve desired results and output formats might occasionally differ from previous versions, though the quality of content analysis and insights remains consistently high throughout these format variations.
Compare Documents
The Compare Documents skill has been upgraded to a new large language model that significantly expands its capabilities, now enabling analysis of longer documents and multiple files simultaneously within a single session. This enhancement delivers improved accuracy through more relevant and comprehensive comparisons, featuring smarter filtering that eliminates irrelevant information and better instruction-following for tailored results that meet specific user needs. The upgrade also introduces greater customization options, particularly with comparison table formats where users can now modify row formats to have more control over how results are presented. However, users should expect that the new model may require more precise instructions to achieve optima l results and could result in slightly longer processing times due to its increased capabilities and more thorough filtering processes.
Search a Database
The Search a Database (SDB) now uses an upgraded language model, delivering faster and more accurate retrieval of substantive information from large databases. Enhanced performance allows extraction of more relevant information from longer documents thanks to the new model’s longer context window and improved filtering of irrelevant data. Responses are now more comprehensive and focused, often including clear yes/no answers and direct supporting information, helping users get succinct and relevant results.
