Set up UltraTax CS and CoCounsel integration
Connect your firm to UltraTax CS so you can import clients, sync return data, and send tax returns directly from the UltraTax CS Print returns window.
What the integration does
- Clients: import UltraTax client names and contact details into CoCounsel as clients and projects.
- Return data: pull structured field values (filing status, income, and so on) from a client's encrypted UltraTax return XML for use in Ready to Advise.
- Preparer copies: send a preparer copy PDF directly from the UltraTax CS Print returns window to the client's CoCounsel project.
Before you begin
- You need administrator permissions in CoCounsel to access Integrations and connect UltraTax CS.
- The firm is identified by its EMS customer ID (a number from 1 to 999999). The ID must already match the firm in UltraTax CS.
Step 1: Connect the integration in CoCounsel
- SelectAccount, thenOrganizational Settings.
- On theIntegrationstab, under available integrations, selectConfigurefor UltraTax CS.
- SelectConnect. CoCounsel registers the EMS ID with UltraTax and creates the link between the firm and CoCounsel.
Step 2: Enable the integration in UltraTax CS
- SelectSetup, thenSystem Configuration.
- On theCoCounseltab, selectEnable CoCounsel Integration.
- SelectOK.
Your UltraTax CS and CoCounsel accounts are now connected. Next, import your clients, then send tax returns to CoCounsel from the Print returns window.
important
If your EMS customer ID ever changes, disconnect and reconnect the integration to rebuild the firm mapping.
note
If Connect is not available, no EMS customer ID is on file for the company. View Troubleshoot UltraTax CS integration.
