Compare processed Topics
Use
Compare Topics
on the Processing
tab to understand the differences between 2 sets of Topics. You can compare any 2 Topics. There's no restriction based on Blueprint or Schematic but they should have comparable data to make the comparison meaningful.
- Find a row in the grid that contains a Topic that you want to compare.
- SelectCompare Topic
from the Actions column.note- TheComparepanel shows the item you've selected to compare.
- You can remove an item from theComparepanel.
- If you close theComparepanel, you can selectItems to Compareto re-open it.
- Find the other Topic you want to compare in the grid, then selectComparefrom the Actions column again.
- On the Compare Panel, with 2 items selected, selectCompare.
- Stage 1: Setup — Define Compare detailsnoteTheSetupscreen is arranged in 2 columns. The 1st column is for theBaseTopic, the 2nd for theCompareTopic. Each column has a dropdown list forIndex On,Compare On, andAdditional Columns to Preview.
- You can selectSwapto change theBaseto theCompareTopic and vice versa.
- You need to choose at least 1 column from theIndex Ondropdown list for theBaseandCompareTopics. These specify key value pairings as criteria for the comparison. SelectAdd New Columnto add more.ExampleThe 1st file has information for Invoice ID, Department, and Amount. The 2nd file has similar data with different names such as Invoice number, Dept ID, and Balance. If Invoice ID and Department from the 1st file and Invoice number and Dept ID from the 2nd file would compare the Amount and Balance, then you would add both asIndex Oncriteria.
- You need to choose at least 1 column from theCompare ondropdown list for theBaseandCompareTopics. These numeric or text items are used to compare based on theIndex On. SelectAdd New Columnto add more.
- If you want to view the differences in a separate column, turn onDisplay Difference in Results.
- UseAdditional Columns to Preview (optional)dropdown list when you want to view other columns from the data but not for comparison.
- SelectCompare.
- Stage 2: Preview — Preview Compare resultsnoteThePreviewscreen shows the comparison results. The Status column shows the Status of the Comparison. TheIndex Oncolumn headers are shown first, then the results of the comparison for theCompareTopic.
- You can filter the view to show onlyAdded,Modified, orRemovedrecords.
- SelectDownloadto save the comparison results as a CSV file.
