Use Profiles in Flags and Links
Create, save, edit, and reuse Flags and Links profiles to apply preferred jurisdiction, content, short-form, and Westlaw authentication settings for common workflows.
If you are a new user, it is recommended that you define presets for common use cases using the
Profile
options. Profiles let you select, save, and reuse options you use frequently. Each time you access the Flags & Links tool, you are provided with options to select an existing profile, view/edit profile settings for a selected profile, and create a new profile.Create new Flags and Links profiles
- Select theFlags & Linkstool on the side of your document.
- SelectCreate New.
- Type a name for the new profile in theProfile Namefield (for example, Secondary Source Flags).
- Select aJurisdictionfrom the list.
- Select the content categories you would like to include.
- Select toInclude Ids, Supras, Ibids.
- Select toInclude case titles only short form.noteFlags & Links will be applied to all standard long and short-form citations
- If you would like to share a document with links to Westlaw with others who don’t have access to documents on Westlaw, selectPooled Authentication. This will let the other users access to the links on Westlaw using you as a sponsor. Otherwise, selectDo Not Apply Authentication Settings.
- SelectSave.
- Utilize the new saved profile in the Flags & Links tool by selecting it from theSelect Profilelist, then selectingInsert/Update.
View, edit, delete Flags and Links profile settings
To edit the settings for a Flags & Links profile:
- Select theFlags & Linkstool on the side of your document.
- Select the profile you want to view or edit from theSelect Profilelist.
- SelectEdit.noteThe default profile can be viewed but not edited.
- Edit the settings and selectSave. To delete the profile, selectDelete Profileat the bottom of the left pane.
