Import clients' form data to e-Form RS
You can import multiple copies of a form to a client or import a form to multiple clients. Make sure you have 2013 Microsoft Access Database Engine (32-bit) installed.
- Create an Import Task
- SelectFile, thenImport Client Data From Spreadsheet.
- SelectCreate Task.
- Select an Import Type
- Select one of the following that describes how the Excel spreadsheet datafile you will import is organized:
- Multiple copies of 1 form per Client
- One Row per Client
- One Sheet per Client
- SelectNext.
- If you chose multiple copies, enter the number of copies, choose whether the worksheet contains a header row, then selectOK.
- Choose A Tax Form
- SelectBrowseand select the location of your datafile.note
- The datafile path defaults toC:\Importfilesdirectory, but you can browse to a different location.
- The directory path is not case sensitive.
- An Excel spreadsheet file must be present in the directory.
- Select the form, thenNext.tipYou can enter the form name in the search box under Tax Form Description.
- Link Datafile to Client
- Select your Excel datafile and the client, then selectAddto link them. Repeat this step for each client and datafile that need to be linked.noteYou can have multiple datafiles for multiple clients.
- If you need to unlink Excel datafiles and clients, select the linked datafiles and clients combination, thenRemove.
- SelectNext.
- Map data to forms
- Select the linked datafiles and clients combination from the list, thenMap Data to Form.noteYou create only one map for each Import Task.
- Select a cell in the spreadsheet.The column that contains the selected cell is selected.
- Select a data entry field in the form.The data entry field of the form is linked to the selected spreadsheet column.
- Take the following steps if you want to test the linked data:
- SelectTest Data.The data appears in the selected fields on the form.
- SelectCoordinatesto clear test data.
- SelectSave Mapping.
- Enter a name for the form mapping, then selectOK.
- Complete the mapping process for all the listed forms, then selectFinish.
- Enter a name for the import task, then selectOK.
tip
If you have problems with an import, check the Excel datafiles for the following:
- Inconsistent data.
- Data is in the same location in each datafile.
- A datafile name must not contain any of the following 8 characters: pound sign, asterisk, at sign, quotes, forward slash, backward slash, comma, or period (# * @ " / \ , .).
- A datafile must have no more than:
- 256 columns
- 65,536 rows
- 80 characters in a cell
You can now run the import task, edit it, and delete it.
