Error: Excel waiting for another application

You may get the following error message when you view or edit documents in Engagement Manager:
Microsoft Excel is waiting for another application to complete an OLE action.

Cause
The likely cause is that Excel is running in the background because of a third-party Add-In.
Solution 1: Check if Add-Ins cause the error in Engagement Manager
- In Engagement Manager, open an Excel document in view mode.
- OpenWindows Task Manager.
- Select theApplicationstab and check that the Excel spreadsheet is running.
- Edit anotherExceldocument inEngagement Manager.noteYou will still get the error message at this stage.
- Take the following steps to disable a third-partyExcelAdd-In:
- InExcel, selectFilethenOptions
- SelectCOM Add-Insfrom theManagedropdown list
- Clear the checkbox next to one of the Add-Ins, then selectOK
- Repeat steps 1 to 3 to check if the error still occurs. If it does, disable another third-party Add-In until you find the one that causes the error.
Solution 2: Check if Add-Ins cause the error outside Engagement Manager
- OpenWindows Explorer.
- Right-click a localExcelfile and selectOpen with, then a supported internet browser from the context menu.
- Close theExceldocument.
- OpenWindows Task Manager.
- Select theProcessestab and check ifExcel.exeis open.
- Take the following steps to disable a third-party Excel Add-In:
- InExcel, selectFile, thenOptions
- SelectCOM Add-Insfrom theManagedropdown list
- Clear the checkbox next to one of the add-ins, then selectOK
- Repeat steps 1 to 5 to check if the error still occurs. If it does, disable another third-party Add-In until you find the one that causes the error.
