Resolve the error when installing a new add-in by adjusting your privacy settings in Microsoft Word or Excel.

You may get the following error message when installing a new add-in.

The service required to use this feature is turned off. Check your privacy settings.

This issue can prevent the add-in from functioning correctly.

To resolve this, you'll need to adjust your privacy settings in Microsoft Word or Excel.

Open the Microsoft Office application where the add-in is installed, such as Excel or Word.

Trust Center
Trust Center Settings

.

In the

Trust Center

window, select Privacy Options
.

Mark the Turn on optional connected experiences
checkbox.

Select Save
.

Close and reopen the Microsoft Office application to make sure the changes take effect.
