Work offline with documents
Follow these steps to check out Engagement Manager documents and work with them offline without an internet connection.

Without an internet connection:
- Documents display static amounts as of the time you checked out the document.
- Engagement Link, Workpaper Reference, and Recalculate features are not available.
If you're signed into the add-in with your Engagement Manager credentials before going offline, you can add checkmarks, signoffs, and tickmarks to the document.
If you need trial balance information while offline, select
Export
on the Trial Balance
tab to create a copy of the trial balance in Microsoft Excel.- Sign in to Engagement Manager while you have an active internet connection.
- Open the document you need to take offline in Edit mode.
- Close the file and selectSave changes locally.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each document you want to take offline.Documents saved locally have a status of “Checked Out” in Engagement Manager until you save the document in GoFileRoom, or the document is checked in. To check in a document, right-click it in Engagement Manager, selectAdministration, thenUndo Checkout.
- When you're ready to work with the documents offline, open Microsoft Word or Excel.
- Select theGoFileRoomtab, thenDisplay Local Filesto display a list of files you have saved locally.
- Select a document in the list to open it, and make any changes necessary.
- When you close the document, selectSave changes locally.
- When the internet is available again, open Microsoft Word or Excel.
- SelectClick here to recalculateto update the document.
- Close the document and selectSave to GoFileRoomto return the document to the Engagement Manager engagement.
Save a document when your internet connection is lost
Follow these steps to save an Engagement Manager document you're working on if your internet connection is lost or disrupted.
- When you close the document, Engagement Manager displays a message that you don't have an internet connection.
- SelectSave locally.
- When your internet connection is restored, open the document.
- Close the document and selectSave to GoFileRoom.You may need to open Microsoft Word or Excel, select theGoFileRoomtab, then selectDisplay Local Filesto access the document again.
