Add Custom Excel workpapers linked to trial balance
- A user account that has been granted theAdd Workpaperpermission.
- A client and an engagement inEngagement Manager.
- An engagement that has:
- a trial balance that uses account grouping codes or
- specified tax vendor information.

To add a Custom
Excel
workpaper to an Engagement Template, add the workpaper to an existing engagement, then select Existing Engagement
as the Source
. - In Engagement Manager, open the engagement, then select theWorkpaperstab.
- Select the target folder where you want to add CustomExcelworkpapers.
- SelectAdd, thenWorkpaper.tipAlternatively, right-click the target folder and selectAdd, thenWorkpaperfrom the context menu.
- SelectCustom Excelfrom the Source dropdown list, thenNext.
- Choose one of the following options from theGrouping Typedropdown list:
- Account Grouping
- Tax Code
- SelectNext.
- If you selected the Account grouping type, specify theAccount Grouping,Format, and the codes you want to include.
- If you selected the Tax codes type, specify theFormatand the codes you want to include.
- SelectNext.
- Customize columns as needed.
- To edit the properties of a column, select the column, then use the Column properties fields.
- To add a column, selectAdd, select the new column, then choose aColumn typeand properties.
- To arrange the columns you've added, select the column, then useMove uporMove down.
- To delete a column you've added, select the column, thenDelete.
noteTickmark and workpaper references columns are not available for CustomExcelworkpapers. Add aUser definedcolumn if you need this information. - SelectNext.
- Use theReference,Description,User Assignment,Roll Forward, andDuring Finalizefields to choose the properties for your CustomExcelworkpaper.
- SelectDone.
note
- When Engagement Manager recalculates the workpaper, it removes all text and formatting changes, unless:
- you work in a User Defined column or,
- you work in a column to the right of the last column that contains calculations and the cell contains data.
- Engagement Manager doesn’t automatically update CustomExcelworkpapers with the latest trial balance data.Engagement Managershows a message to ask you recalculate the formulas if there are differences.
