Annotating documents with highlighter or typed text

  1. Select and open a document to annotate in the
    Watch
    window.
  2. Choose
    Edit
    Annotations
    Highlighter
    or
    Edit
    Annotations
    Typed Text
    .
    You can also right-click in the
    Watch
    window and choose
    Highlighter
    or
    Typed Text
    from the context menu, or click the Highlighter button or the Typed Text button in the Annotation toolbar. If the Annotation toolbar is not visible, right-click in the
    Watch
    window and choose
    Annotation Toolbar
    from the context menu.
  3. Click the document and hold down the left mouse button while dragging the pointer until the annotation is the size you want. Note that you can adjust the size later.
  4. For a text annotation, enter text in the text box.
  5. Click and drag the handles along the border of the annotation to resize it.
  6. To change attributes such as font, font size, frame, text position, frame color, frame width, background color, transparency, continuous mode, or colors (for highlighter annotations), right-click the annotation and choose
    Current Annotation Properties
    from the context menu.
    You can use the Text annotation with a white background color to cover or overwrite sections of your document.

  • When you add an annotation, its position is determined by the method you use to place it.
  • You can set default annotation attributes globally or by annotation type.
  • Click the
    Set as Default
    button after making changes in the
    Current Annotation Properties
    dialog to save them as the default settings for the current annotation type.
  • You can cut, copy, and paste annotations documents and pages using the appropriate menu commands available from the
    Edit
    menu, or by right-clicking an annotation.
  • After a text or Highlighter annotation is added to a multiple-page document, you can apply the annotation to all pages by right-clicking and choosing
    Apply to all pages
    from the context menu. Any changes made to the annotation after it is applied to all pages are reflected on all pages, except changes made to the size or position of the annotation. At any time, you can right-click the annotation and choose
    Apply to all pages
    from the context menu again to remove it from all other pages (with the exception of the current page).
