CS Connect Background Services

You can use CS Connect Background Services to keep FileCabinet CS updated and to transmit certain documents to NetClient CS. In addition, you can determine who has access to CS Connect Background Services.

  • The options you set for CS Connect Background Services affect FileCabinet CS, Fixed Assets CS, and UltraTax CS.
  • A domain user account must be logged into the network on the computer that is running CS Connect Background Services, and must have local permissions to update FileCabinet CS.

Updates

By default, the
Enable background services
checkbox is marked to apply pending updates at 3 a.m. Eastern Time. However, you can apply updates at any time. To change the default settings, choose
Setup
System Configuration
, and then select the
CS Connect + Misc
tab.

  • Verify that all other users have closed FileCabinet CS, all other CS Professional Suite applications, and all Microsoft Office applications, and the computer you use to apply updates is logged in to the network.
  • To retrieve and update licenses, you must call or schedule an unattended call to our secure data centers.
  • When CS Connect Background Services is enabled, a CS Connect icon displays in the Windows taskbar notification area.

NetClient CS Documents

If you are licensed for NetFirm CS, you can enable automatic transmittal of documents to NetClient CS. CS Connect Background Services will scan for drawers with a status of
Changed
or
Forced
and will automatically transmit updated documents to NetClient CS.

Source Document Processing (OCR) Images

If you marked the
Enable automatic transmission and retrieval of Source Document Processing (OCR)
checkbox, CS Connect Background Services will transmit image groups that have been designated for source-document processing.
note
CS Connect Background Services requires the authorized designee must be signed into at least one CS Suite application to automatically transmit documents to NetClientCS or Source Document Processing.

Access to CS Connect Background Services

By default, all computers on the network are allowed to run background services. To limit this option to only the computer you are using, choose
Setup
System Configuration
, select the
CS Connect + Misc
tab, and then select the
Only this computer
option.
