Backing up drawer data

Use the following procedure to back up drawer data in FileCabinet CS.
  1. Choose
    File
    Backup
    .
  2. Select
    Drawers
from the field in the upper-left corner of the
    Backup
    dialog.
  3. Highlight the drawer that you want to back up.
  4. Use the
    Select
button to move the selected drawer to the
    Drawers to back up
    pane.
  5. Verify that the
    Backup location
field displays the correct location for the backup. (To change this location, use the
    Modify Backup Location
button, navigate to the appropriate location, and then select
    OK
    .)
    note
If you are running FileCabinet CS in the Virtual Office CS or SaaS environment, you can navigate to files on your local network.
  6. Select the
    Backup
    button.
note
  • FileCabinet CS does not back up archived documents during this procedure.
  • If the drawer to be backed up is not listed, it may not have changed since its last backup. To include the drawer in the list, clear the
Exclude drawers unchanged since their last backup
    checkbox.
  • Mark the status checkboxes (Active, Inactive, Defunct) to list drawers only with the selected status.
  • Mark the
    "Check out" selected drawers
checkbox to secure the drawers from issues that can result when multiple users attempt to access and update the client's data at the same time. Before a staff member attempts to open a checked-out client drawer, the application displays a message that indicates the drawer is currrently checked out. If the checked out drawer is opened, FileCabinet CS automatically clears this checkbox.
Internal use only
You don't need to use a password to back up or restore a drawer that is password protected. The password is required only for accessing the contents of the drawer.
