$GLOBAL drawer overview

The
$GLOBAL
drawer is created in your database with the name of the firm found on the license when FileCabinet CS is installed. Certain documents are designed to be placed within this drawer, and users with the appropriate permissions to access the
$GLOBAL
drawer can add relevant documents to it as needed. The following are common uses for the
$GLOBAL
drawer.

Template documents

Use this folder to store any templates that you typically use in FileCabinet CS, such as embedded Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel documents, or company letterhead. When you need to use a document from this drawer, simply copy it from the
Templates
folder and paste it into the correct drawer and make the necessary edits.

User bulletins

User bulletins for FileCabinet CS list recent changes and enhancements made to the application. Each update to FileCabinet CS adds a new document to this folder. To access the user bulletins, expand the
$GLOBAL
drawer, and then expand the
FileCabinet CS User Bulletins
folder.

Viewing UltraTax CS backups

Backups of UltraTax CS documents, system settings, and application settings are stored in the
$GLOBAL
drawer. You can view backups of UltraTax CS documents, system settings, or application settings.
Expand the
$GLOBAL
folder, select the
Data Backup
folder, and then the
UltraTax CS
folder to see the backups. (If the
UltraTax CS
folder is not present, this type of backup may not have been created.)
