Unable to modify email signature format and font

Scenario

When creating an email signature in FileCabinet CS, if your default email application allows formats other than Plain Text you can choose to use, HTML or Rich Text for the format.
note
Your default email system must be able to support extended MAPI to use Rich Text or HTML formats. For example, Outlook Express does not support extended MAPI, so it cannot use the HTML or Rich Text formats.

Solutions

If you are using a system that supports extended MAPI, such as Microsoft Outlook, and you are unable to choose Rich Text or HTML, try the following troubleshooting steps.
Thomson Reuters recommends that you consult a qualified technician before performing the steps below.
Verify that CSIFORCESIMPLEMAPI is not set as an environment variable.
  1. Open the
    Control Panel
  2. Select
    System
. (Note: The path that you select depends on whether the Control Panel is in Category, Small icons, or Large icons view mode).
    • In the Category view mode, select
      System and Security
      , and then
      System
      .
    • In the Small icons or Large icons view mode, select
      System
      .
  3. Select the
    Advanced system settings
link on the left side of the pane.
  4. Select the
    Environment Variables
    button on the
    Advanced
    tab.
  5. Look for
    CSIFORCESIMPLEMAPI
in both the User Variables pane and System pane.
  6. If this variable exists, verify with your qualified IT professional that you should remove it.
note
You may have set this variable if both Outlook and Outlook Express are installed, and you wish to use Outlook Express to send emails from CS Professional Suite applications.
Verify the mapi32.dll file exists
Navigate to
C:\Windows\System32
and verify that
mapi32.dll
exists. If it does not, consult with your network technician, since this is installed with your email application.
Set the default email application
  1. Open the
    Control Panel
  2. Select
    Internet Options
. (Note: The path that you select depends on whether the Control Panel is in Category, Small icons, or Large icons view mode).
    • In the Category view mode, select
      Network and Internet
      , and then select
      Internet Options
      .
    • In the Small icons or Large icons view mode, select
      Internet Options
      .
  3. In the
    Programs
tab, verify that the correct email application is selected in the
    Email
    field.
Update the registry
We recommend that you work with your qualified IT professional to make registry changes, as problems with the registry can cause serious issues with the operating system. Also, we recommend that you create a backup of your registry before making any changes to it.
  1. Open the Registry editor
  2. When you are prompted to allow the app to make changes, select
    Yes
    .
  3. Navigate to
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Profiles
    .
    note
If you have a folder named something other than Outlook in the Profiles folder, it indicates that your profile name is not the default profile. This causes FileCabinet CS to detect that your system does not support extended MAPI. Renaming the folder to
    Outlook
enables you to reset your system to recognize extended MAPI support. (Before you proceed, we recommend that you discuss the situation with your network technician.)
