Changing the location in which drawer data is stored

If your organization has set up multiple data locations, you must specify the data location in which you will store your documents. If you do not specify a data location, FileCabinet CS stores data in a default folder located at
C:\WINCSI\FCABDATA
, where C is the drive on which you installed FileCabinet CS.
After multiple data locations have been set up, a
Data Location
 drop-down list appears above the
Folders
 window to allow you to quickly switch between data locations at any time.
You can also choose a data location by following these steps.
  1. Choose
    Setup
    User Preferences
    Setup > User Preferences.
  2. Go to the
    File Locations
     tab.
  3. With
    FileCabinet CS data
     highlighted, select the
    Modify Location
     button.
  4. Select the desired data location from the
    Data location
     field in the
    FileCabinet CS Data Location
     dialog.

    Data locations must be added in the
    Data Locations
     tab of the
    System Configuration
     dialog before they will appear in the
    Data location
     field.
  5. Select
    OK
     to close the
    FileCabinet CS Data Location
     dialog.
  6. Select
    OK
     to close the
    User Preferences
     dialog.

  • You will also be prompted to choose a data location after adding a data location in the
    Data Locations
     tab of the
    System Configuration
     dialog.
  • You can also change the data location when adding a drawer, when restoring drawers, or via the
    Change data location
     link located on the
    FileCabinet CS Home page
    .
