Exporting data from FileCabinet CS

When exporting data from FileCabinet CS, consider the options below to determine the best method to export depending on the purpose and scope of your export.

Creating drawer families

By default, the export will only list documents from the currently selected client drawer. However, if you link drawers into a family, you can export documents from all drawers associated with that family.

note

    File name
    section, mark the
    Drawer ID
    option.
  • If exporting multiple documents and you wish each document to export as a separate document, make sure the
Combine documents into single PDF file
    option is unmarked.
Other considerations when exporting
  • Due to potential formatting issues, we recommend that you mark the
Export documents to PDF file as images
option, especially if exporting numerous documents.
    note
Your documents may be larger in file size after exporting as .PDFs
  • When exporting, remember that if you choose to Include annotations, those annotations will be a permanent part of the .PDF file.
  • If you are choosing to export numerous documents from numerous drawers, remember that the process may be resource-intensive. We do not recommend that you link all drawers together when attempting to export. Consult with your qualified IT professional and perform a test export to determine your firm's individual best practice for options and the number of drawers to export at one time.
  • When exporting multiple documents, if you wish to have the documents separated based on folder association, you will need to perform a separate export for each folder association.
  • The use of a third-party PDF print driver to print documents to a PDF is not supported and exporting documents through the
    File > Send To
dialog should be used to convert documents to a PDF file.
