Create an aggregate asset
You can combine multiple assets into 1 with an aggregate asset. Each asset you combine is called a component asset. The aggregate asset will have a summary total of all the component assets.
- In theAsset Listwindow, either double-click a component asset or selectAddto create one.
- SelectEdit, thenComponents.
- SelectAdd component.noteTheMethodandLifedefault to the method and life for the previous component.
- SelectEdit Components
. - Select Add.
- Enter theDescriptionandDate in servicefor the new component.
- Enter information on theDepreciationtab.
- Repeat steps 3 to 6 for each additional component of the aggregate asset.
- When you've entered all components, selectDone.note
- You can only edit information on theDepreciationtab at component level. Depreciation information on all other tabs (Disposal,Vehicle / Listed,Home Office,Other, andImage) is edited at the aggregate level.
- To remove components from an aggregate asset, go to theComponents for Aggregate Assetwindow, and selectDelete. This will completely remove components from Fixed Assets CS.
- The aggregate asset'sDisplay Calculationwindow includes anAggregate asset detailgroup box that lists each component asset.
- The Aggregate Asset Report gives component detail for each aggregate asset.
- An aggregate asset is created automatically when you dispose of an asset through aLike-Kind Exchangefor IRS Notice 2000-4 and Reg. 1.168(i)-6.
