Windows Installer Coordinator: Please wait while the application is preparing for its first use
Scenario
While installing on a terminal server, you might see a Windows Installer Coordinator dialog that states "Please wait while the application is preparing for the first use". The window may get stuck or appear repeatedly. This is a known issue that is caused by incompatibility between the Embedded MSI technology and the Windows Installer Coordinator.
Solution
To disable this policy, follow the steps below:
- Go to the Windows Start button and search forgpedit.msc.
- Go to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Remote Desktop Services, Remote Desktop Session Host, then Application Compatibility.
- SelectTurn off Windows Installer RDS Compatibility.
- SelectEditfrom the dropdown menu.
- SelectEnable.
- SelectOK.
