Advanced Properties dialog

Use this window to password protect this client's data.
To open this window, select the
Advanced Properties
 button in the
New Client or Client Properties
 window.
This window opens automatically when you open a password-protected client by entering the master password (instead of the client password). In this case, only the
Client password
 and
Verify
 fields appear in the
Restrict Access
 tab.
note
  • If you password protect a client's data, you'll need to enter the password (or the master password if you forget the client password) whenever you open the client.
  • Depending on your security configuration, you may be required to enter the master password before you can assign or change client passwords. If this is the case, the
    Enter Master Password
     window will open when you select
    Advanced Properties
     in the
    New Client
     or
    Client Properties
     window.

Fields & buttons

Deny access to client data unless password is known
Mark this checkbox to password protect this client's data or change an existing password. The
Client password
 and
Verify
 fields then become available for you to enter and verify a password for the client data.
Client password
Enter a unique password or replace an existing password for this client. (Note that the password can be up to eight characters in length.)

This field is available only if the
Deny access to client data unless password is known
 checkbox is marked.
Verify
Enter the password that you entered in
Client password
 again to verify that it's correct, and then select
OK
 .

Do not update password when changed in UltraTax CS
By default, Fixed Assets CS updates a client's password when it's changed in UltraTax CS. Mark this checkbox if you want to maintain a different password for the client data in Fixed Assets CS than in UltraTax CS. If you do
not
 mark this checkbox and a password has been set for the client in UltraTax CS, you will be required to enter the same password to open the client data in Fixed Assets CS.
