Export Options dialog

Use the options in this dialog to require people to enter a password to open or modify XLS (Microsoft Excel) and PDF files that are exported from Fixed Assets CS.
To open this dialog, open a client, choose File and then Print, and select the Exp Options button.

Fields & buttons

Protect against the viewing of XLS or PDF file(s)
Mark this checkbox to create an XLS or PDF file that requires the recipient to enter a password to open the exported file.
note
After the exported file is opened, the file will not have any restrictions preventing its modification.
Protect against modification of XLS or PDF file(s)
Mark this checkbox to create an XLS or PDF file that requires the recipient to enter a password to modify the exported file. When this option is selected, only the following tasks are allowed for the exported file.
  • Print content
  • Copy content
  • Extract content that is associated with accessibility tools and resources, such as converting PDF content into HTML for visually impaired users who use audible reading devices.
Use client EIN / SSN as the password to view / …modify
Select this option to have Fixed Assets CS automatically use the client's employer identification number or Social Security number as the password to protect the exported file.
note
This option is available only when an employer identification number or Social Security number is entered in the File and then Client Properties dialog.
Password to view / …modify / Verify
Select this option to enter your own password to protect the exported file. After entering the password in the
Password to…
field, re-enter the password in the
Verify
field. Passwords are limited to 32 characters and are case sensitive.
Do not allow modification by any recipient
Select this option to have Fixed Assets CS randomly generate and assign a password to protect the exported file against modification. If a recipient tries to modify the exported file, they will be prompted to enter a password and it is highly unlikely that any recipient would be able to guess the randomly generated password.
Allow modification only when password is known
Select this option to enter your own password to protect the exported file. Recipients can view the file but must enter the password to modify the file.
