Home Office Information window

For 1040 clients, use the Home Office Information window to enter information for a home or improvements.
This window opens when you select
Office in home
 from the Method/Life Wizard while entering an asset for a 1040 client.

Fields & buttons

Type of home office asset dropdown
Select the home office asset type.
  • If you select
    Home
    , the fields in the
    Business use of a home
     group box are available.
  • If you select
    Improvements
    , the field in the
    Improvements
     group box is available.
Improvements
Business use percentage
Enter the business use percentage for calculating current depreciation.

This field is available only if you select
Improvements
 from the
Type of home office asset
 dropdown.
Business use of home
Total area of home (square footage)
Enter the total area (in square feet) of the home.
note
This field is available only if you select
Home
 from the
Type of home office asset
 dropdown.
Area used exclusively for business
Enter the total area (in square feet) of the home used exclusively for business purposes.

This field is available only if you select

 from the
Type of home office asset
 dropdown.
