Send client data, custom methods and reports, and system settings to a file
You can send client data, custom methods and reports, or system settings (asset labels, data locations, import maps, and status system events) to an encrypted file that you can password-protect.
If your email service doesn't support Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) protocol, use this procedure to save the documents to file, then attach the files to an email message.
If your email service does support MAPI protocol, you can select
File
, Send to
, then Email Recipient
.- SelectFile,Send to, thenFile.
- Make a choice from theClients, Custom Reports, Custom Methods, or System Settingslist.
- Highlight an item from the Available pane, then useSelectto move it to the Selected pane.
- If you want to password-protect the file, enter aPasswordandVerifyit.
- UseModify Destinationto specify the destination for the file, if needed.
- If you've chosen Clients fromClients, Custom Reports, Custom Methods, or System Settings, you can mark the"Check out" selected clientscheckbox to indicate you're taking the client's data home or to another locations.
- SelectOKwhen you've made all our selections.Fixed Assets CS creates the file, places it in the specified location, and notifies you of the name of the file and folder in which it was placed.
You can now open a new email message using Gmail (or another non-MAPI-supporting service), and manually attach the file you created.

The recipient of any client data, custom methods or reports, system settings, or updates will need to have Fixed Assets CS.
- Select the words Client ID, Name, or Entity in the title bar of either list sort by it.
- When you send client data, use theFocus listinggroup box to limit the clients in the list.
