Specify the Fixed Assets CS data location
If your firm has multiple branches that share the same installation of Fixed Assets CS, you'll need specify which data location you will use. The process to specify the location varies depending on whether you open Fixed Assets CS after or before the data locations have been added.
- If you open Fixed Assets CS after the data locations are added:The 1st time you open Fixed Assets CS, the application opens theChoose Data Locationwindow. Choose the data location from theFixed Assets CSfield. The FileCabinet CS data location is shown here if you have a license.
- If you open Fixed Assets CS before the data locations are added:The application will store data in the default directory (which isC:\Wincsi\Deprdata, whereCis the drive to which you installed Fixed Assets CS). To use a different data location, complete the following steps.
- SelectSetup, thenUser Preferences.
- Select theFile Locationstab.
- SelectFixed Assets CS.
- In the File Types and Locations list, selectFixed Assets CS client data.
- SelectModify.noteIf a client is open, Fixed Assets CS warns you that continuing with the process will close the open client.
- SelectYesto continue.
- Select theData location.noteOnly locations that have been entered by going toSetup,System Configuration, then theData Locationstab are included in the list.
- SelectOK, thenOKagain.note
- The data location you select determines the configurable items to which you'll have access.
- You can create additional data locations.
