Error: Can't add Outlook files via GoFileRoom Add-In

Scenario

You can add emails to GoFileRoom from Outlook by selecting
Add to GoFileRoom
 or
Add outgoing email to GoFileRoom
 on the Outlook ribbon. Occasionally, these functions might be grayed out, missing, or inoperable, so you can't add Outlook files to GoFileRoom, even though the other components of the Office add-in are functioning properly.
note
We don't recommend the GoFileRoom Outlook ribbon, and it won't be installed unless specifically requested.

Solution

Try the steps below in the order listed, until the issue is resolved.

Enable the GoFileRoom Add-in in Microsoft Outlook

  1. Open Outlook. Make sure that you only have one session open.
  2. Select
    File
     then
    Options
    .
  3. Select
    Add-ins
    .
  4. In the
    Manage
     field, select
    Disabled items
    , then
    Go
    .
  5. If
    Thomson Reuters WorkFlow Tools
     is listed, select it then
    Enable
    .
  6. If any add-ins with a
    GFR
     prefix are listed, select them then
    Enable
    .
  7. Select
    Close
    .
  8. Select
    File
    ,
    Options
    , then
    Add-ins
    .
  9. In the
    Manage
     field, select
    COM Add-ins
     then
    Go
    .
  10. Mark the checkbox for
    Thomson Reuters WorkFlow Tools
    , then select
    OK
    .
note
If the add-ins don't stay on, run Outlook as an administrator and repeat the steps above to turn on the add-in. After you make sure that the add-ins stay on, you can run Outlook normally.

Manually register the GoFileRoom Outlook add-ins dynamic link library file

  1. Select
    Windows Start
    .
  2. Enter
    cmd
     in the
    Search programs and files
     field.
  3. Right-click
    cmd.exe
     in the search results, then select
    Run as administrator
    .
    important
    If you don't run the command prompt as an administrator, the file will registration will fail.
  4. Enter the following command that applies to your computer and then use Enter to go to the adxloader.dll file.
    • 64-bit Windows:
      cd c:\Program Files (x86)\GoFileRoom\GFROffice
    • 32-bit Windows:
      cd c:\Program Files\GoFileRoom\GFROffice
  5. Enter
    regsvr32 adxloader.dll
     then use Enter to register the file.

Uninstall and reinstall the GoFileRoom Add-In

  1. Uninstall and reinstall the latest version of the GoFileRoom Add-In.
  2. Open Outlook and repeat the previous steps if necessary.

Check the load behavior of the Thomson Reuters WorkFlow Tools add-in

The Load Behaviors registry settings for the GoFileRoom Add-In should always be set to a value of 3. Occasionally, the GoFileRoom add-in load behaviors can be corrupted or changed from their original state.

Thomson Reuters recommends that you have only a qualified IT professional make changes to the registry, as problems with the registry can cause serious problems with the operating system. We also recommend that you back up the registry before making any changes to it.
  1. Close Outlook.
  2. Open Windows Task Manager and make sure that the Outlook.exe process has ended.
  3. Select
    Windows Start
    , then
    Run
    .
  4. Enter
    Regedit
     in the
    Open
     field, then
    OK
    .
    note
    If you're prompted to allow this program to make changes to your computer, select
    Yes
    .
  5. Go to the
    _TR.WorkFlowTools.AddinModule
     or
    TR.WorkFlowTools.AddinModule
     key in the following locations.
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\AddIns\
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\AddIns\
  6. Double-click
    LoadBehavior
     in each location and make sure that the
    Value data
     field contains
    3
    . If it contains any other value, change it to
    3
     and select
    OK
    .
