New Help experience

The main benefits are improved workflow, allowing for Help articles to be read while working in the product. Reached by selecting Help | Help and Support from the menu bar. The new Help user interface (UI) features: Chat now feature with Triva, movable and expandable help viewing area, in-place article reading, and improved usability. Note, GoFileRoom is the first rollout of these enhancements and similar updates are planned for other Thomson Reuters products in the future.

New GoFileRoom

As previous announced, The GoFileRoom team is excited to announce a multi-year initiative to modernize the UI of GoFileRoom. Thomson Reuters design teams are in the process of reviewing customer feedback, engaging our customers, in order to bring powerful new efficiencies to you. Major benefits include:
  • Similar look and feel to other Thomson Reuters applications when moving between products
  • Easier onboarding and intuitiveness
  • Maximizing the workspace: The legacy screens didn't scale as well with modern monitors. The new UI makes better use of the horizontal and vertical space. Bringing key actions and information together, while providing a more efficient workspace. Making it so more can be seen and done on a single screen.
  • Accessibility features: Built-in accessibility improvements support users with disabilities and make everyday tasks easier for everyone. This not only boosts productivity and reduces fatigue, it also helps attract and retain a broader pool of qualified talent
  • Introduction of innovative features: the modernization of our UI allows us to introduce new features that were not feasible in the legacy application. These enhancements are designed to streamline workflows and enhance productivity, ensuring you stay ahead in a competitive landscape.

Preferences
We're releasing the first milestone of our UI modernization: refreshed Preferences screen, that includes account information, preferences setup, and download utilities. To get started, hover over your username (located in the upper-right corner of GoFileRoom) and select Preferences. Here you can customize user-specific preferences and control your GoFileRoom display experience. Please visit Help and search for My Preferences for more information.

In some instances when
Classic Search
is turned off for a firm,
Classic Search
may still appear in the Display Preferences as a Start on this page option. Selecting it has no effect and will not impact the start page. Please ignore this option.
Simplify your staff's experience - Classic Search
As a step toward this modernization, you now have the ability to deactivate the legacy Classic Search screen. Opting to remove Classic Search can smooth your transition to the new UI and reduce retraining later, as Classic Search will be decommissioned in a future release.

How to opt-out your firm of Classic Search - Contact your GoFileRoom support team by phone at 800-968-0600.
Be ready to confirm your firm name, admin contact, and preferred timing. Not ready yet? You can continue using Classic Search. We'll provide advance notice, training resources, and timelines before decommissioning to ensure a smooth change management process.

API Authentication Best Practices
To ensure secure and uninterrupted API access, follow this authentication flow:
  1. Authenticate: POST /api/v1/user/login
    • Headers: Content-Type: application/json
    • Body: Provide your credentials (LoginName and Password)
    • Receive: Authentication token and session timeout value
  2. Configure Request Headers (Required for all API calls):
    • Authorization: Basic {authenticationToken}
    • X-TR-API-APP-ID: {your_APIkey}
    • Content-Type: application/json
  3. Monitor Token Validity:
    • Tokens expire after IdleSessionTimeoutMinutes
    • Use GET /api/v1/user/validate to check token status
    • Re-authenticate if you receive 401 Unauthorized responses
  4. End Session Properly:
    • Call GET /api/v1/user/logout when finished
    • Ensures proper resource cleanup
