Calculate and print Schedule J

Calculate and print Schedule J, Federal Income Averaging for Individuals With Income From Farming or Fishing, for taxpayers who want to average all or part of their current year farm or fishing income over the prior 3 years.
  1. In the Organizer, go to
    Income
    Farm Income
    .
  2. Select
    Sch. J – Farm Income Averaging
    , then
    Schedule J Information
    .
  3. Verify that
    Total Elected Farm Income (Mandatory)
     contains an amount.
  4. In Tax Forms, go to
    Federal
    Sch J – Farm Income Averaging
    .
  5. On page 2, verify that line 23 is less than the regular tax.
    Schedule J prints only when the income averaging tax on line 23 is less than the regular tax. If line 23 is not less than the regular tax, force the form to print instead.
  6. Run a full recompute, then print the return.
  7. Force print
    : If Schedule J doesn’t print automatically, follow these steps to force the form to print:
  8. In the Organizer, go to
    Income
    Farm Income
    .
  9. Select
    Sch. J – Farm Income Averaging
    , then
    Schedule J Information
    .
  10. Mark the
    Force Schedule J to print
     checkbox.
  11. Run a full recompute, then print the return.
