State diagnostics

You may get the following diagnostic: The taxpayer federal AGI plus spouse federal AGI does not equal total federal AGI. This is important for state returns that require taxpayer and spouse amounts for certain elements of federal AGI.
The program calculates taxpayer AGI and spouse AGI based on the ownership options entered on the federal organizers. This information is important for states that use this separated AGI or certain elements of AGI split between taxpayer and spouse.
There are certain limitations inherent in the calculation of separate taxpayer/spouse AGI. These limitations center on income and adjustments which are limited, like Schedule D losses, rental losses, and the domestic production adjustment.
This diagnostic will trigger if the sum of the system calculated taxpayer and spouse AGI does not equal federal AGI or if there are overrides entered on the common state organizer that causes the taxpayer and spouse AGI to not equal the federal AGI.
If the states attached to this return require taxpayer and spouse values, then go to
Organizer
,
States
,
Common State
,
Federal AGI Taxpayer/Spouse
, and make the necessary change.
If the states attached to this return do not require taxpayer and spouse values, this informational diagnostic can be ignored.
