Troubleshoot grantor letter printing
Grantor letters will only print for beneficiaries of a grantor return, or for beneficiaries marked as part of a Clifford or Crummey trust.
Letter is printing when it shouldn't
If a Grantor letter is printing when you don't expect it to, make sure you have the correct type of return selected in General Information, Basic Return Information.
If the return isn't a grantor, make sure a beneficiary isn't marked as part of a Clifford or Crummey trust:
- Go to theBeneficiary Info (1041)folder and selectBeneficiary Data.
- Open theBeneficiary Informationfolder, then the beneficiary's name the grantor letter is generating for.
- SelectGeneral Beneficiary Information.
- Go to theBene Info - Miscellaneoustab and make sureBeneficiary is a Crummey trust beneficiaryorBeneficiary is a grantor of a Clifford trustisn't marked.
Letter isn't printing when it should
If you're expecting a letter to print and it isn't, review the following:
- SelectView, thenDiagnosticsto check if there is any information about the letters not printing.
- Go to theBeneficiary Info (1041)folder and selectBeneficiary Data.
- Open theBeneficiary Informationfolder, then the beneficiary's name.
- SelectGeneral Beneficiary Information.
- On theBene. Name/Address/Distribution Infotab make sure all the necessary information is entered.
- On theBene. Info - Miscellaneoustab make sure theDO NOT PRINTisn't marked
- Make sure you aren't suppressing the letters in theGeneral Informationfolder,Return and Print Options,Misc. Optionstab.
K-1 transfer data isn't printing with the letter
The Output to 1040 form does not print for Grantor beneficiaries. This is only available for beneficiaries generating a K-1 (or Tax Information Letter). Data on the Grantor Letter must be entered manually into the 1040 product.
